Apple announces new iOS update for iPhone, iPad users

ple has rolled out an update for its iOS 10 mobile operating system. Carrying version number 10.1.1, the update fixes the Health app data deletion bug that iOS 10.1 was riddled with. Apart from resolving the Health app issue, the update consists of multiple bug fixes as detailed in the official change log.The new update comes less than a week after Apple released iOS 10.1 for eligible iPhone and iPad devices. To get the update, users need to get to Settings > Software update section. It's about 65MB in size.
Apple rolled out iOS 10.1 software update for users of eligible iPhone and iPad devices a few days back. Among other features, the new update adds a 'Portrait' mode in the camera app on the iPhone 7 Plus. Ever since it was rolled out, multiple users have reported that the new iOS update wipes all the data stored in the Health app and that there is no way of getting it back.
Apple's support communities already have numerous threads filed by iOS users affected by the issue. Once the Health data is deleted, even a factory reset or restoring the device to an earlier version is unable to restore it.
To confirm the issue, Gadgets Now tried contacting Apple Support. And as per our conversation with an executive, it seems that Apple hasn't yet acknowledged the existence of the bug. The executive further said that users should back up Health data regularly to avoid data loss. As per a report on The Hacker News website, the newest iOS update also has a security flaw. This loophole can be exploited by hackers to take control of an iOS device and steal confidential information with the help of a downloadable PDF file or an image. Given how commonly such files are shared online, the chances of data theft are quite high.
