Budget smartphone maker Xiaomi has finally confirmed the launch date of its Mi Note 2 phablet. According to a teaser image, posted on the company's official Twitter account, the device would be launched in Beijing at 11.30am (India time) on October 25. Apart from mentioning the launch date, Xiaomi also revealed a few key features of the device. The image carries a tagline - 'Mi Note 2 | Two-Sided dual curves'. This could be a possible indication towards a dual-curved display. Samsung has already been using dual-curved displays since it introduced the Galaxy S6 Edge and S7 Edge smartphones. However, it remains to be seen how the Chinese firm imbibes it along with its custom UI. The dual-curved display seems to be the 'real big surprise' as mentioned by company CEO Lei Jun earlier this month. As per rumours, Mi Note 2 will come in two variants - one with a 5.7-inch Full HD display, 4GB RAM and 64GB in-built storage, and a second one with a 5.7-inch Quad HD resolution display, 6GB RAM and 128GB/256GB in-built storage. Both variants are said to feature a 16MP rear camera, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 processor, and 4,000mAh battery. The devices would apparently measure 6.5mm in thickness.
The 4GB RAM variant is expected to cost CNY 2,499, while the larger 6GB RAM variant might be priced at CNY 2,799. However, there is no information as to when they would hit Indian stores. The company recently launched its Redmi 3s handset in India. Available in two variants, the 2GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 6,999, while the 3GB RAM version sports a Rs 8,999 price tag.
