Microsoft Surface Studio AIO with world's thinnest display launched

Microsoft didn't just showed its Windows 10 Creator's Update prowess and the overhauled 3D Paint application, but also introduced a new hardware in its Surface line-up. The Redmond-based tech giant launched its first Surface-branded All-in-One system, the Surface Studio. It will be available in $2999, $3499 and $4199 versions based on its hardware options.
The $2999 version comes with 1TB hybrid drive, 6th gen. Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 2GB Nvidia GTX 965M GPU. The $3499 variant includes Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB RAM while the rest stays the same. The most powerful $4199 variant features 2TB of storage, Intel Core i7 processor, 32GB RAM and GTX 980M 4GB GPU. The company has not yet mentioned its India availability details.
Microsoft at the event claimed the AIO has the thinnest touch screen LCD monitor yet at 12.5mm. The 28-inch 'PixelSense' display gives and output of 13.5MP (4500 x 3000 resolution), which as per the company Panos Panay, corporate VP of devices at Microsoft, is 63% more than what is shown on a 4K resolution display. In addition, there is also a built-in palm rejection feature in the display that prevents it to recognise false touch inputs. As one can expect from name, the Microsoft Surface Studio is aimed for photographers, videographers and 3D designers.
In terms of design, the Microsoft Surface Studio comes with a minimal footprint and a counterbalanced hinge that lets users easily adjust the display in upright Desktop Mode or in flat Studio Mode. All of them run Windows 10 OS and come with a Surface Pen, which is essentially the same stylus that came with Surface Pro but with slightly better hardware.
There's also a new accessory introduced by Microsoft, called as the Studio Dial. The Dial acts almost like as a secondary mouse for the AIO but with some interactive features. Users can put the round puck-shaped Dial on the 28-inch screen and hold it to display a radial menu of tools for application such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Bluebeam and others. It can also be used to bring extra menus, adjust brightness, volume and even scroll documents. As for the connectivity, the Microsoft Surface Studio includes SD card slot, Ethernet, 4 USB 3.0 ports, Mini Display Port, and also a microphone to use Cortana virtual assistant. While the AIO audio is powered by Dolby 2.1 tech, it also has a 5MP front-facing camera with Windows Hello support.
